Sneak peek

Fasten your seatbelt, step on the accelerator and zoom off into the wilds of South Africa! Drive to the famous Kruger National Park on a direct route to the Big Five. Watch as a herd of elephants crosses the road directly in front of you, look into the eyes of a hippo from up close, follow the tracks of rhinos and encounter crocodiles on the riverbank. At night, the only thing that will separate you from the South African wilderness is the wall of your glamping tent. Let the enchanting sounds of nature lull you to sleep as you snuggle into your feather-soft bed. Or stay up late by your blazing campfire and keep an ear out for rustling in the bushes or the distant howl of a hyena as you stargaze in the hot tub. Have your deepest desires been awakened? Then get out there and live your wilderness adventure!

Trip itinerary

Sunglasses, bags, camera, a yearning to explore – you've got everything you need, and you're heading to the airport! As your plane rolls down the runway, you get more and more hyped about what lies ahead. You lean back, snuggle up in your seat and start dreaming of all the adventures that await you in the African wilderness. One thing's for sure: this is gonna be the trip of a lifetime!

Three, two, one, landed! Finally, your feet are on South African soil – thousands of miles away from home. Crazy, right?
The doors of your hire car unlock with a gentle click, and now you're ready to go. Adventure's calling! You're obviously hungry for your next adventure, but if you're literally hungry, too, head to Nelson Mandela Square and tuck into a hearty South African dinner between rooftop restaurants and the huge Mandela statue. And if it's the weekend, Neighbourgoods Market in Braamfontein is the place to be! Live music and chill locals – here, it's all about pure 'Jozi' vibes. Afterwards, roll over to Maboneng for a top-notch urban adventure, complete with colourful street art, cool concept stores and hidden jazz clubs. Then for the finale, nab a stool in a rooftop bar and raise a glass to Joburg!

Your first impression of Johannesburg is bound to make you want more. So get out and explore! First stop on your self-led city tour? Gandhi Square, where the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, who spent several decades of his life in South Africa, stands ready to pose with you for a reverent photo. Don't want to miss out on the township of Soweto? Then book a ticket for the city's hop-on, hop-off buses (optional, payable on site) and cruise to all of Joburg's must-sees as you listen to a guide share stories and information that bring the houses and streets to life. And when you get to Soweto, you can visit a second figure of South Africa's tumultuous history at the single-story Mandela House (optional, payable on site).

Rise and shine! Today, you've got an early start. The wilderness is calling! As you wander off the beaten path, the passing landscape becomes more and more remote, expansive and wild and your eyes grow wider and wider. Be sure to take a break at Sabie Falls and soak in the sound of the roaring waters as they plunge into the depths through lush greenery – a natural highlight that helps you truly grasp what South Africa has to offer!
Back on the road, it won't be long before you see the next place you're staying: a glamping tent in the middle of untouched wilderness! What's that peeking its head out from behind that bush?! A cheeky little antelope?! The fireplace on the veranda is practically begging for a cosy evening with a campfire and a round of sharing the most incredible stories. So, why not order a hefty braai basket (payable on site)? That way, you'll be fully equipped for a South African barbecue in the light of the setting sun.
